Barbara Black Jackson, 48, of the 700 block of Coquina Lane, died April 30, 1992, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Portsmouth. She had taught in the Virginia Beach high schools and at Golden Gate University. She was a member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church, Portsmouth.

Survivors include her husband, Billy E. Jackson; a son, John T. Sciortino, and a stepson, Michael K. Jackson, both of Portsmouth; her mother, Gladys S. Black of Portsmouth; a sister, Evelyn Thomas of Suffolk; four brothers, James T. Black of Norfolk, Ronald M. Black of Richmond, Roy S. Black of Suffolk and Thomas D. Black of Hampton; and a grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Fairview Heights Baptist Church by the Rev. Ted Barton. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
