Daily Oklahoman, The (Oklahoma City, OK) - June 9, 2004

Gary "Seaweed" Midkiff, 61, of Okla. City went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus, Sunday, D-Day, June 6, 2004 after a long struggle with cancer.

Born January 25, 1943 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Billy Warren and Mary Elvin "Evelyn" Midkiff-Ellyson. He is survived by his wife, Janis Justice Midkiff, of the home, mother Evelyn, Portsmouth, VA, daughter Michele, Virginia Beach, VA, stepson Martin and wife, Kellie Whitson, three grandsons Sheldon, Tanner and Brody, all from Seguin, TX. And a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with numerous friends all over these United States.

Gary always said "I never met a stranger," and "tell them I had a LARGE time." All who knew him will recognize these sayings and know they were true to his actions. He will be loved, missed, and remembered by many as he walks his new path with God. Oceana, NADAP Jax, Norfolk, and Tinker Air Force Base are some of the places he worked.

He started out in the plating shop and after college became an Aeronautical Engineer where he retired after 34 years of service with the Department of the Navy at TAFB. After 2 months of retirement he went to work for Titan, at same desk and job but as Line Manager. He really enjoyed working with a beautiful team of people from all over. He called them his extended family and friends. Gary also enjoyed researching History, Bluegrass music, NASCAR, and being with friends.

He will live on in the memories of countless loved ones whose lives were touched by his friendship, and the goodness of his heart.
