Portsmouth – Charles Neal Simmons, 25, of 3913 George Washington Highway died Friday in a Baltimore hospital.

 

A native of Washington, N.C., he was a son of Claude R. and Mrs. Addalena Potter Simmons and the husband of Mrs. Hazel W. Simmons.

 

He was a Baptist and a Norfolk Naval Shipyard apprentice boilermaker.

 

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Ramon Odell Simmons of Portsmouth; a stepson, Calvin Lewis Drake of Portsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Claudia Richards of Chesapeake; three brothers, Samuel R. Simmons, Robert O. Simmons, and James M. Simmons of Portsmouth; and his grandmothers, Mrs. Maude Simmons of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Lettie W. Potter of Norfolk.

 

A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Central Baptist Church by the Rev. U. G. Robertson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at 400 Hertford St. Snellings Funeral Home has charge.
