William Orrock , Portsmouth

William "Bill" Orrock, a lifetime resident of Portsmouth, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Oct. 3, 2007. Survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving, devoted wife, Gloria; daughters, Danielle Green, Danae Allen and Michelle McClendon; son, Darren Orrock; brother, Charles Orrock; three grandchildren, Tyler McClendon, Nicholas Allen and Raquel Allen. His granddaughter, Alexandria "Lexi" Allen preceded her "PaPa" in death.

A devoted Christian, Bill held the office of chairman of the deacons at Surry Street Baptist Church for many years until his death. A faithful member of the choir, Bill’s voice could be heard singing praises to his Lord every Sunday. A dedicated member of the church who held many other positions as God’s servant, he was a beacon of light and an inspiration to all who knew him. He touched many lives with his devotion and love for the Lord. The family would like to say a special thanks to Pastor Ken Littleton and his wife Jackie for their devotion and love shown to Bill during his illness. Also thanks to Bill’s AT&T family who wrapped their arms around him and provided support, transportation and care. These acts of kindness will never be forgotten.

To Heartland Hospice, your medical care to Bill and devotion to the Lord was a special blessing. Many thanks to all of his friends and church members who reached out in love and prayers. Thank you to his grandson, Tyler, who created special memories with "PaPa" during their many fishing trips together. Another special thank you to Frances and Charles Ashby Kincaid, Gloria’s parents, who offered their love, care and prayers daily to their son in marriage.

A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Surry Street Baptist Church by Pastor Ken Littleton. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m.
