Frederick John Galuska

Fredrick John Galuska, 62, of the 4000 block of South St., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in his home. Born Sept. 17, 1942, in Newton, Iowa, he was the son of the late Edna E. and John F. Galuska Jr. He was also predeceased by a brother, John F. Galuska III.

Mr. Galuska retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a crane operator after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 147. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother.

He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda M. Cox and husband Gregg of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Tara M. and Bahne T. Cox; one sister, Suzann White and husband Ed of Chesapeake; and one nephew, Brian L. Swain of Portsmouth.

At the request of Mr. Galuska, the family will have private services in honor and memory of his life. The family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513. The Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel of Sturtevant Funeral Home is assisting the Galuska family.
