Clinton Roy Leasure, a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, 74, of James Island, SC and husband of Betty West Leasure went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with acute Myeloid Leukemia.

He was born May 30, 1938 in Portsmouth, VA, son of Clinton Josiah Leasure and Elizabeth Bonny Roane Leasure. He served in the U.S. Air Force September 9, 1956 to January 13, 1965, serving in Turkey and Japan. He was then employed at the Charleston Naval Shipyard February 9, 1965 and NAVELEX - Charleston from April 1985 to June 1993.

Clinton Roy was a volunteer engineer for the James Island Fire Department 1965 - 1972. He was a member of the James Island Yacht Club, member of Chapter Tri-CountyWings, Chapter G. He was Vice President and Safety Officer of the Low Country Radio, Controlled Flyers.

 

He was loved by many friends and was always there to help people when needed. He loved off shore fishing, riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle in Charity rides with the Gold Wing Club and building and flying model airplanes with his friends on Johns Island. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Leasure in 1993 and step-daughter, Debbie Ruth Suggs in 2009, she called him "step-papa".

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Betty West Suggs Leasure, his son, Stephen Roy Leasure (Denise) and three beautiful granddaughters, Lauren Jean Leasure, Kendall Grace Leasure and Kaleigh Elisabeth Leasure. Clinton is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Kinworthy (Tom) of Phoenix City, AL and sister-in-law Ann Ruth Figg of Tallahassee, FL and sister-in-law, Jeanette Streets (Henry) of Charleston, SC.

The family will receive friends between 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. The funeral services will be held Saturday April 13, 2013 in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, James Island.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 300 West Coleman Blvd., Ste. 206, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 or to the SC Memorial Reef, PO Box 31546, Charleston, SC 29417.
