Gloria Strickland "Ginny" Holloway, 73, of Richmond, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard W. Strickland; and her mother, Anne B. Flythe. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Don W. Holloway; four children, Michelle Major Irby and her husband, Claiborne Jr., Ralph Savoye Major III, Margaret Stephene Major and Michael Scott Major and his wife, Suzanne; seven grandchildren, Claiborne Irby III and his wife, Bevin, Sarah Irby, William Irby, Christopher Irby, Steven Major and his wife, Jennifer, Ashley Major and Michael Major Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony Major and Thomas Major. She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Donna Gaye Holloway and her companion, Charles Brooking, and Diana Holloway Wagner and her husband, Charles; two stepgrandchildren, Brandon Wagner and Lauren Wagner; her sister, Phyllis M. Bottoms; and her brother, Robert A. Strickland and his wife, Denise. In her earlier years, she had an accomplished business career and was an avid tennis player and umpire in the Greater Richmond Tennis Umpires Association. Mrs. Holloway was a former member of the Tuckahoe Woman's Club and the Westwood Club. Most importantly, she was devoted to her family and friends and will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Wednesday, July 6, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Avenue. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
