Chesapeake - Robert Howard "Bobby" Parker, 75, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 after a two year battle with cancer. He was born in Portsmouth and was the son of the late Robert and Florie Parker. He graduated from Cradock High School and served in the U.S. Air Force prior to becoming an air traffic controller and retiring as an area manager with the FAA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Darlene Godwin Parker; a son, Mark and wife Vicky of Miami, FL; a daughter, Paige Parker of Virginia Beach; a brother-in-law, John R. Godwin; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Joyce Layden of Chesapeake; four nieces, Melody Layden Duck of Portsmouth, Traci Layden Spring of Nags Head, NC, Johnna Godwin Skinner of Hertferd, NC and Kimberly Godwin of Norfolk.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Dr. Bruce Powers. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lupus Foundation of America.
