Chesapeake – Bobby G. Robinson, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully in his daughter Vicky and son-in-law Ray Ramirez’s home in Suffolk surrounded by family on January 20, 2010 after losing his courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in North Carolina to the late Annie and Corbett Robinson. Bobby was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as an Optical Foreman for 30+ years in Shop 38 and served with the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma Jean Robinson.

Bobby devoted many years of coaching at Olive Branch Little League for his children’s sports throughout their childhood years. He also spent a lot of time at Western Branch Athletics and Suffolk Youth Assoc. watching his grandchildren playing sports. After Emma Jean passed away his time was completely devoted to his grandchildren and he loved every minute he spent with them! One thing he would not want us to forget is that he loved his Washington Redskins…..Go Skins!

He is survived by two daughters, Sherry and her husband Billy Yarbrough of Chesapeake, Vicky and her husband Dr. Ray T. Ramirez of Suffolk; a son, Bobby G. Robinson Jr. and his wife Angie of Chesapeake; a sister, Melinda Gibson and three brothers Eugene, Ronald and Norwood Robinson and eight grandchildren, Ray Jr., Tyler, Jordan, Hunter and Rileigh Ramirez, Cassidy, Chloe and Carter Robinson.

We would also like to thank Dr. Harrington and Dr. Auman and their staff along with Bon Secours Hospice for taking such good care of our Dad.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday January 24, 2010 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel. A funeral will be conducted at 10:30am Monday in Believers Church by the Pastor Jamey Stuart. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum.
