James Edward Reneau, 67, of the 2800 block of Lilley Cove Drive, went to his heavenly home Aug. 16, 2001, at his residence. Jim, affectionately known to his children and grandchildren as ''Pop,'' was the son of James A. Reneau who preceded him in death and his mother Effie M. Reneau who survives him.

Jim had been married to his high school sweetheart Peggy Deal Reneau for 45 years. In addition to his mother and his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Teresa Turner and husband, Chris, and their daughter, Allison, Denise Davis and husband, Bobby and their two sons, Bryan and Bradley, and Patricia Ennis and her children, Robert, Justin and Caryn. Additionally, Jim is survived by his oldest and only living brother, Cecil Reneau. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Reneau and his sister, Mary Jo Chapman.

Jim attended Elon College in North Carolina and played football for the Fighting Christians. He was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church and had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Western Branch Baptist Church led by Dr. Ron McLain. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence. At his request, the family has asked that contributions be made to Western Branch Baptist Church, 4710 High St. W., Portsmouth, VA 23703.
