NORFOLK - George Edgar Derby Jr., 70, passed away Feb. 27, 2005, in Chesapeake. A native of Portsmouth, he lived in Norfolk most of his life. He worked as a cosmetologist for 42 years and was the former owner of Derby’s Hair Styling at Wards Corner and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Zion Grace United Methodist Church and a 37-year member of the Charles T. Morton Lodge No. 232.

George is survived by his son, George Edgar “Eddie” Derby III; daughter, Ann Davis and husband Richard; sister, Patricia Spruill and husband Marion; and three grandchildren, Dale Herring, Dylan Derby and Emily Davis.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. Kim Young. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.
