Lois Dearmon White, age 79, of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Lois was a loving and devoted wife of Maury White for 61 years, mother of Bruce White and Kimberly White, and grandmother of Brent White and Claire White.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Aug. 2, at 3 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Crematory in the Chapel. Tammy Sullivan of Embracing Hospice will officiate the service.
Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Dearmon White, CHS-52, died on July 22, 2014.

Lois Dearmon White a resident of Gainesville, Georgia on Lake Lanier was born in Hudson, North Carolina on September 7, 1934 and moved to Portsmouth with her family in 1943. Lois attended Alexander Park and then Cradock High School where she met her future husband Maury White, CHS-52.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Maury White, CHS-52, who she married on Christmas Day 1952; a daughter, Kimberly Anne who lives in Gainesville, GA and a son, Bruce of Cumming, GA; a brother, Jerry Dearmon of Williamsburg; 2 sisters,, Nadene DeJarnette of NC and Renae Van Schellenbeck of NC; and two grandchildren.

Two sisters, Doris Dearmon Silva of Suffolk, Janice Dearmon Rew of Yorktown, VA., predeceased her earlier this year.

Lois began working as a legal assistant to Peter Ackiss, a Cradock graduate who later served for many years as Chesapeake’s Commonwealth Attorney. She and Maury moved to Blacksburg after he completed his Coast Guard service and while Maury attended school at VPI, Lois worked for the College (VPI). After graduation from Tech, Maury went to work for Allied Chemicals and they moved to Florida. Later they relocated to Georgia where they spend the majority of their lives.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 2nd in Cumming, GA,
