Chesapeake - Henry William Domme passed away peacefully on March 1, 2017 after 97 years of a life well-lived.

 

Mr. Domme, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., was the son of the late Henry Domme, Jr. and Freida Layer Domme. He was retired from Civil Service as a heavy mobile equipment foreman, was also a retired Chief Warrant Officer CWO4 from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve after 30 years of service, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Chief Warrant Officers Association, American Legion Post #310, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars #1119. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church, and was the widower of Norma Virginia Kowalski Domme since her passing in 2002. He is also predeceased by his sisters, Evelyn Darden, Viola Gass, Dorothy Green, and daughter, Catherine D. Donahue.

 

Survivors include 3 sons, Henry W. Domme, Jr. and wife Charlotte, Andrew J. Domme and wife Lisa, and Daniel J. Domme, Sr.; son-in-law, Jim Donahue; a sister, Virginia Holister; a brother, Gerald P. Domme; and 6 grandchildren and their families; Timothy; Mark, Amy, and great-granddaughter Aly; Daniel Jr., Mineka, and great-granddaughter Sarah; Anne and Stephen; Carolyn and Scott; and Alyssa.

 

The family will receive friends Monday, March 6th from 6 to 7 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7th at St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High St., Portsmouth. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church Restoration Fund, c/o 3501 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA 23703.
