Theodore Pruden deTreville was born in Tampa, Florida on November 18, 1909, the son of John L. and Sarah Ellen (Nell) Pruden deTreville. He grew up in North Augusta, SC (until and 1923) and Cradock, Va., attending school and being a member of the Boy Scouts in first Augusta, GA., and later Cradock, VA. He graduated from Cradock High School in June 1927. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute until the family moved to Atlanta Georgia, after which he attended Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in June 1932 with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce. He had originally hoped to become an architect, but graduating in the depths of the Depression, he found it necessary to work at a variety of jobs but eventually gravitated towards the military. As a reserve Army Lieutenant in the 326th Infantry, he served with the CCC at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He later worked as clerk to the Chief Engineer, 4th Corps Area, and was again called to active duty during the build up to World War II beginning February 1, 1941. He continued to serve throughout WWII in the Army Air Corps and later served in the US Air Force upon its establishment in 1947. During his military career he served in various posts in Georgia, Ohio, Germany, and California. He retired for medical reasons in 1954 and settled in Augusta, GA where he died November 13, 1966. and was interred in the National Cemetery at Beaufort, SC. In November 1938, He married Virginia Beverly Evans deTreville of Atlanta, Georgia, and together they had two sons, Theodore Evans deTreville and John Richard deTreville.
